Norwegian Aqua is the newest addition to NCL’s Prima-class fleet, and solo travelers have every reason to celebrate with 73 Studio Cabins, just like on the Prima and Viva. Norwegian Cruise Line has long been known for its warm welcome to solo travelers.

Norwegian Aqua Cruise Solo Travel : What to Expect
Traveling solo doesn’t mean you have to compromise on luxury or fun, and the NCL Aqua makes it easier than ever. With 73 dedicated solo cabins, this ship is ideal for travelers looking for comfort, privacy, and adventure without the added cost of a traditional single supplement.
1. Stylish Solo Cabins
Each cabin is thoughtfully designed with the solo traveler in mind cozy yet modern, and equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay at sea. Many feature ocean views, allowing you to wake up to breathtaking sunrises each morning.

2. Social Opportunities
Traveling alone doesn’t mean you’ll ever feel lonely. Aqua’s onboard activities, bars, and dining venues make it easy to meet fellow travelers. From group excursions to themed nights, there’s always something happening and plenty of opportunities to connect.

3. Flexibility and Freedom
Solo travelers can enjoy the freedom to plan each day exactly as they wish. Lounge by the pool, indulge in a spa treatment, or explore the ports at your own pace.
4. Cost-Effective Travel
Solo cabins make cruising with Norwegian Cruise Line especially inviting, with no single supplements, making it more affordable than ever to travel alone, without giving up any of the benefits of a premium cruise experience.
Traveling solo can be one of the most rewarding ways to see the world, and with NCL Aqua, you’ll find the perfect balance of independence, comfort, and connection. Whether you’re looking for relaxation or adventure, this ship offers something for every solo traveler.
Beyond the solo cabins, the Aqua introduces exciting updates in luxury, entertainment, and The Haven experience, making it an appealing choice for all guests.
The Prima Class has three ships

Viva
Aqua
Luna is coming out March 2026
What Sets Aqua Apart from Her Sister Ships?
Aqua is larger than her sister ships, Prima and Viva, and can accommodate more guests on board.
Aqua features a thrilling slide coaster.
Glow Court, a LED-lit sports court, offers a unique recreational experience.
The Haven includes a three-bedroom duplex suite.
The Haven on Aqua is bigger and more luxurious, providing an elevated experience for guests seeking exclusivity.
The Aqua coaster
The Aqua Slide Coaster is a hybrid ride that combines elements of a roller coaster with a waterslide. It features dual slides, a launch system (using magnetic propulsion rather than just a traditional drop), and twists and turns around the ship’s funnel. It is being promoted as the world’s first ride of its kind at sea.

The Glow Led Sports Court
Described as the world’s first outdoor interactive LED sports court on a cruise ship. Located on Deck 20 of the Norwegian Aqua, it features a fully LED floor and an adjacent LED wall, offering multiple game modes, dynamic visuals, and immersive experiences. The court is weatherproof and specially designed to withstand maritime conditions, including salt air, sun, and outdoor deck exposure.
During the day: Play various sports games, the floor can switch between basketball, football (soccer), and other skill‑based drills.
Includes interactive game modes like “Stomp” where players must hit targets on the floor while avoiding sensors/lasers.
At night: The space transforms into a lounge, dance‑floor or immersive media environment, the LED surfaces change visuals, music and mood.

The Haven three bedroom duplex
New on this ship is the three-bedroom duplex suite, which can accommodate 6 to 8 guests.
Following the family two-bedroom villa, which holds 4 to 5 guests, this is a major upgrade for cruising with larger families or for two families traveling together.

The Haven more luxurious
On this ship, The Haven is larger than on previous vessels, with 123 high-end suites. The “more luxurious and bigger” distinction comes from the fact that both suite and balcony sizes are significantly larger than standard accommodations onboard. Among the options, the Premium Owner’s Suite available only on Prima-class ships—can accommodate up to 8 guests.

My experience
I have sailed on the Prima myself and really enjoyed it. The layout especially Deck 8 is different from other ships. With the Indulge Food Hall and the infinity pools on the sides, it’s a fantastic deck to spend time on. While most people usually gather near the top pool area, this deck feels more inviting and relaxed.
I’m looking forward to experiencing the new NCL Luna, another Prima-class ship, on her inaugural cruise and seeing how she compares.
