What makes Celebrity Edge Class unique?
Celebrity Cruises is a premium cruise line and is known as one of the most innovative and luxurious concepts at sea. This ship class combines sleek, modern design with technological innovations and a focus on comfort, space, and experiences. Although they all share the same design, there are sometimes differences between the ships. I will explain the differences for each ship.
The Edge Class ships are:
Edge
Apex
Beyond
Ascent
Xcel
Xcite expected in 2028
What makes the Edge Class special?
Revolutionary Design
Infinite Veranda Staterooms: Instead of a traditional balcony door, a glass wall slides open, making the balcony part of your stateroom. This provides more interior space and natural light.Open Layout: Spacious public areas, modern lounges, art installations, and airy architecture give the ship a resort-like feel.
Magic Carpet
A striking, multifunctional orange platform that hangs off the side of the ship and moves up and down between decks.
It can be used as:
- A boarding platform (for tenders)
- A cocktail bar with a view
- An extended dining space
The Retreat
An exclusive area of the ship for suite guests featuring:
Private sun deck
Dedicated lounge and concierge service
Luminae at The Retreat restaurant
Culinary and Wellness
Multiple specialty restaurants, including Le Petit Chef, where reality art comes to life on your plate.World-class spa with salt rooms, infrared saunas, and an inspiring fitness center.
Eco-Friendly
Advanced systems for energy efficiency, water purification, and waste management.

The Edge
Celebrity Edge entered service in 2018 as the original ship that launched the Edge concept. It can accommodate 2,918 passengers. The newer Edge-class ships are an evolution: larger, more refined, with additional spaces and enhanced amenities. Edge is slightly smaller than her sister ships, but with her modern luxury and innovation, she is a fantastic ship.

The Apex
Celebrity Apex entered service in 2021.
Here are the minor differences compared to her sister ship, the Edge:
Slightly updated Rooftop Garden
Improvements to Eden programming
Updated entertainment
New dining concepts or menus
Better flow in some public spaces
The more significant changes only appeared with Beyond. Edge and Apex do not have infinity pools.

The Beyond
Larger & More Spacious Design
Beyond entered service in 2022.
- Length: 327 meters (20 meters longer than Edge & Apex)
- Additional Deck: Beyond has an extra deck (Deck 17), more space for public areas and accommodations.
- Higher Passenger Capacity: Up to approximately 3,260 guests (Edge: ±2,900)

The Ascent
Celebrity Ascent entered service in 2023, with hardly any differences compared to her sister ship, Beyond. Xcel entered service in October 2025, and the Xcite

The Xcel
This new innovative ship has entered service, offering seven new onboard experiences, some of which were co-designed by guests themselves:
The Bazaar – A three-deck space that brings the culture, cuisine, crafts, and entertainment of the destination onboard.
Bora – An outdoor restaurant on the Rooftop Garden.
Celebrity Pool Club – A reimagined pool deck experience.
Attic at The Club – A new lounge and game area for adults (and families).
Celebrity Flagship Store – A high-end retail and interactive space, part museum.
The Spa (Celebrity Xcel) – The largest spa yet.
