Cruise Atelier was present at the inauguration of this beautiful new river cruise ship, and I’m excited to share our experiences from this special event with you.

The Nobleman River Cruise Ship
The Nobleman is the sister ship of The Gentleman, which has been sailing since April 2024. Both ships belong to Van Loon Cruises and are chartered by various tour operators, allowing travelers from different companies to enjoy luxurious river cruises on board.
Facts
The ship is 135 meters long
It features 84 Premium cabins
It can accommodate 168 guests
The cabins have floor-to-ceiling windows, with the upper section that can be opened electronically
Baroness Restaurant
The Bistro, a smaller and more intimate restaurant located at the aft of the ship
The Lounge
Sun Deck
A wellness area with a sauna
A gym
There is also a boutique shop

Experience
A strong focus on luxury and a boutique-hotel experience is felt throughout the ship. This is reflected in the interior design, featuring high-quality materials such as bronze, copper, and steel. While The Gentleman embraces a warm palette of browns and oranges, The Nobleman opts for a softer combination of beige and blue. The Delft-blue accents add a touch of warmth and give the entire space an almost regal character.

Sustainability
Sustainability played an important role in the design of The Nobleman and The Gentleman. Both ships are equipped with low-emission engines, allowing them to sail more cleanly and with less environmental impact. In addition, they can connect to shore power while in port, enabling them to switch off their diesel generators and reduce air pollution as well as noise levels to an absolute minimum.
The interior also reflects a sustainable approach: materials were chosen for their quality and long lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacement. The use of energy-efficient lighting and modern climate control systems further contributes to greener energy consumption while sailing.
These ships combine luxury and comfort with environmentally conscious choices, a trend increasingly seen in new river cruise ships across Europe.

Itinerary
The Nobleman primarily sails along the Rhine, one of Europe’s most famous and scenic rivers. The usual route runs from the Netherlands to Basel in Switzerland. Along the way, passengers can enjoy picturesque towns, castles, vineyards, and historic villages lining the river.
Differences between The Gentleman and The Nobleman
The overall design and luxury experience of both ships are quite similar.
The Gentleman has 86 cabins and can accommodate 172 guests.
The Nobleman features a dedicated wellness area with a sauna, and the gym is more spacious.
The Nobleman also has a boutique shop on board.
The lounge on The Nobleman is divided into two sections, with the front area creating a cozy, living-room-like atmosphere while still being connected to the main lounge.

My Experience
It was a special experience to attend the inauguration of The Nobleman. Previously, Cruise Atelier had the opportunity to sail on The Gentleman, and both ships offer a unique experience that is very different from a sea cruise.
What I especially appreciate about river cruising is the cozy and intimate atmosphere. It’s easy to connect with fellow guests, and charming towns are always just a short walk away. Around Christmas, this makes it perfect for visiting the festive markets, while in summer you can simply relax on the sun deck and enjoy the beautiful river views.
if you’re a light sleeper, you might notice a little extra noise at night, such as when passing through locks. But this is all part of the authentic charm of a river cruise, adding to the unique experience on board.
