The Four Seasons Yacht 1

The Vision (2018–2021)

For years, the luxury industry watched as the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection announced its plans. Four Seasons watched closely. They didn't want to just "build a cruise ship"; they wanted to create a "floating hotel" that felt exactly like their properties in Paris or Cap-Ferrat.

They partnered with Marc-Henry Cruise Paris, led by luxury veterans Nadim Ashi and Philip Levine, to handle the maritime side, while Four Seasons focused on the "DNA" of the service and design.

The Big Reveal (Monaco Yacht Show, September 2022)

The world officially found out about the project during the Monaco Yacht Show. This was a deliberate choice, they didn't announce it at a cruise convention, but at a yacht show.

• The Message: "We are not a cruise line. We are a yachting experience."

• The Partnership: They announced they were working with Fincantieri, the legendary Italian shipbuilder known for the world's most complex and beautiful vessels.

Construction & Innovation (2023–2024)

Construction began on the first vessel (unnamed at first, now simply referred to as Four Seasons I) at the Ancona shipyard in Italy.

  • Design Pedigree: They hired Tillberg Design of Sweden (exterior) and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (interior). Brudnizki is famous for high-end clubs like Annabel’s in London, ensuring the yacht feels like a private club, not a ship.

  • The Engineering Marvel: This was the period where the Funnel Suite was engineered, a glass-enclosed masterpiece built into the ship's traditional chimney stack.

Expansion & Future (2025–2026)

As of March 2026, the maiden voyage of the first Four Seasons yacht is a celebrated fact. The timing of this launch could not have been more poetic; as the yacht embarked on her inaugural sailing recently, the brand celebrated a monumental milestone: 65 years of legendary hospitality.

Since the opening of the first Four Seasons hotel on the first day of spring in 1961, the name has been synonymous with perfection. With a second vessel already ordered as far back as 2023 and scheduled for delivery in late 2026, the brand has signaled a definitive, long-term commitment to the ocean. This is a new era of maritime luxury that is here to stay.

A legendary ship deserves a legendary leader. Four Seasons Yachts appointed Captain Kate McCue as the inaugural Master of Four Seasons I.

Captain Kate has been many years working for Celebrity Cruises brings nearly 30 years of maritime expertise to the bridge. But beyond her technical mastery, it is her passion for the "human element" of travel that makes her the perfect fit for the Four Seasons.

Only by invitation

Initially, Four Seasons didn't just let anyone book. They reached out to their most loyal hotel guests first. This created an incredible sense of exclusivity. The "Invitation Only" phase was primarily for the pre-launch period to reward the most loyal Four Seasons hotel guests. Now, the booking process has opened up, but it remains highly curated.

The "Waitlist" Reality

Because the ship only has 95 suites, the 2026 Mediterranean summer season is largely sold out. For a new client, the process usually looks like this:

  • Waitlist: Placing a deposit to be first in line for cancellations.

  • Early Access for 2027: Booking the next season's Caribbean or Asia itineraries (which are now opening up).

The Destinations: Playgrounds

The maiden voyages are focused on the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

They aren't going to the big cruise ports. They are docking in "yacht-only" spots like St. Barths, Bequia, and smaller hidden coves in the French Riviera.

This ship’s size allows it to drop anchor where the mega-liners can't even get close.

Maiden voyages can sometimes have small technical tweaks. However, for the luxury traveler, being "The First" to sleep in the Funnel Suite or have a drink at the Transverse Marina is worth more than a perfectly smooth schedule.

Suites: Your Private Sanctuary

  • Unrivaled Space: With only 95 suites on board, the guest-to-space ratio is among the highest in the industry. It offers a level of seclusion and privacy usually reserved only for the world's most exclusive private yachts.

  • The Funnel Suite: : A vertical masterpiece spanning four decks, this suite features iconic floor-to-ceiling glass wrap-around windows, an engineering marvel costing a staggering $13 million. It’s not just a suite; it’s a bold architectural statement.

The Lifestyle: A Private Club at Sea

Life aboard Four Seasons I is designed to mirror the effortless luxury of their iconic land-based properties. There are no crowds, no queues, and no rigid schedules—only a 1:1 guest-to-staff.

The Marina & Pool: Your Private Oasis at Sea

What truly defines the "yacht" lifestyle on the Four Seasons I is the seamless connection to the ocean. The innovative aft Marina transforms the stern of the vessel into an expansive private beach club, allowing guests direct access to the water for swimming and sea-side lounging.

Central to the outdoor experience is the 20-meter saltwater pool one of the largest of its kind. In a masterstroke of design, the pool floor can be raised to create a seamless deck space, transitioning from a serene daytime oasis to an elegant venue for starlit celebrations.

Restaurants & Venues

Dining is the heart of the experience. With 11 restaurants and lounges, the yacht offers "Michelin-caliber" variety without the formality of traditional cruise dining.

  • Sedna: The centerpiece restaurant featuring a "Master Chef-in-Residence" program, where top chefs from Four Seasons hotels worldwide rotate to create ever-changing menus.

  • Miuna: An ultra-intimate Omakase experience for only 16 guests, serving the highest quality sushi and seafood.

  • Terrasse: A relaxed, open-kitchen Mediterranean venue inspired by the Côte d’Azur, perfect for sharing plates of fresh crudo or house-made pasta.

  • Bar O & Champagne & Caviar: From a 1960s jet-set inspired cocktail lounge to an adults-only terrace for rare vintages and caviar, the evenings are as sophisticated as a night in Mayfair or Monaco.

Wellness & Entertainment

  • L’Oceana Spa: A massive sanctuary on Deck 4 featuring a sea-view sauna, hammam, and high-tech recovery options like a cryochamber and infrared therapy.

  • The Saltwater Pool: A stunning 20-meter aft pool. In a feat of engineering, the pool floor can be raised to create a flat surface, transforming the deck into a dance floor or event space for elegant soirées under the stars.

  • The Marina: A "transverse" design that opens directly to the sea, offering everything from paddleboarding to private "beachlander" excursions to hidden coves.

It's all elegance!

Family & Kids

Four Seasons remains the gold standard for multi-generational travel. On the yacht, children are treated as guests in their own right.

  • Creative Discovery: Instead of noisy arcades, children enjoy ocean-themed crafts, marine exploration, and even "pastry-making workshops" that culminate in a lunch for their parents.

  • Teens: A self-directed, tech-forward lounge gives older kids their own space without a forced itinerary.

  • Complimentary Dining: A signature touch, children aged 5 and under eat for free in all venues.

I recently had the privilege of standing on the docks of Civitavecchia, where the Four Seasons I was moored alongside the NCL Luna. Seeing this architectural masterpiece in person, as she prepared for her inaugural voyage, was a revelation. It is truly a piece of art that stands in a category of its own.
