Expedition cruises: what to expect

Traveling on small, purpose-built ships (typically 50–200 guests), you’ll reach some of the most remote places on earth, from polar regions to untouched islands, guided by expert teams of naturalists, scientists and expedition leaders.

Shore landings are done by Zodiac, allowing for hikes, kayaking and close encounters with wildlife, always with respect for nature and local cultures.

  • Antarctica – vast ice landscapes, glaciers and extraordinary wildlife

  • The Arctic – polar scenery, remote coastlines and iconic wildlife

  • The Galápagos Islands – one of the world’s most unique ecosystems

  • Greenland – dramatic fjords, icebergs and northern lights

  • Patagonia – rugged landscapes, mountains and pristine nature

3. Adventure and Luxury?

Some expedition ships are cozy and functional, while others, such as Silversea or Seabourn, combine luxury with adventure. Choose your preferred comfort level — yet every journey prioritizes enrichment over entertainment. In fact, you can have both, enjoying adventure without compromising on elegance.

4. Nature is in Charge

On expedition cruises, weather and wildlife sightings can alter daily plans, flexibility is part of the adventure. Each landing and every encounter feels authentic, unfiltered, and unforgettable.
